Sixth Annual Celebration of Stars Gala

Thank you for your support at the Celebration of Stars Gala on 4/8/17

Canton Educational Foundation's Sixth Annual Celebration of Stars Gala

On Saturday April 8, 2017 the Canton Educational Foundation hosted its Sixth Annual Celebration of Stars at Canton High School. Community support allows the Foundation to continue to celebrate academic achievement and teaching excellence for all students in the Canton ISD. The Top Ten graduating seniors were honored and commended for their academic achievements, leadership skills and service to the community. In addition, the Canton Educational Foundation scholarship  contest invited seniors to submit an essay describing the educator who had the most in? uence and greatest positive impact on their academic and personal recognition at the event. Five winners were selected, and each was awarded a $500 scholarship.  These students and the educators they nominated also received recognition at the event. The Foundation also recognized the winners of the 2017 Innovative Teaching Grants and the program included updates from previous years winners, Meredith Wiley and Emily Cox-Mimeo Magic, Denise Stapleton-Mobil Indoor Garden, Worm Factory and Smart Microscopes and Kelle Harle-Enhancing the Classroom Experience with Chromebooks

The 2017 Top Ten graduates were: Greyson Reid, Alexandria Wiley, Logan Willeford, Taylor Tidwell, Sabrina Ellis, Savannah Ellis, Samantha Ellis, Anna Chambless, Taylor Marshall and Morgan James. The 2017 Essay winners were Alexandria Wiley/Jeff Priest, Anna Chambless/Megan Bundrett, Emily Williams/Kurt Hook, Maddie Lynch/Anna Coppedge, Samantha Ellis/Mike Bartley.

Our Celebration of Stars Gala this year focused on the outstanding imagination and talent of educators and students from Canton ISD. Beautiful music was provided by the CHS Jazz Combo, an excellent meal was prepared by the CHS Culinary Arts students, and we were proud to offer gorgeous art projects created by individuals and classroom groups from Pre-K through High School students. We also presented wonderful gift packages including a Summer Fun Pack from the First Graders (ice chest, coupons for local summertime fun, gardening items) and a Reading and Storytelling Pack from the Second Graders (books, a ?re pit, patio décor, and snacks), with valuable support from local businesses as well.

***The proceeds from this year’s event totaled almost $30000. These funds will be used to award classroom grants to educators in 2018, and to fund scholarships for 2018 essay winners. The Canton Educational Foundation wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors and donors who continue their support, and who helped make the Sixth Annual Celebration of Stars Gala a terrific success.
